August 2016: News

As we approach the end of Summer, we are still working to secure the venue for the Fall Expo. Amanda and I will be meeting this week to work on all the details. There has also been interest in gathering for a meeting this month as an opportunity for new members coming in and sharing ideas for moving forward. A date has not been chosen, but I will post it on the Facebook page as an event and will try to do so at least a week out to give everyone a chance to make it.

If you hadn't noticed, I also tried something new with the last addition to the Directory. I would like to go back to posting separately for each new business listing. This works on two levels: better exposure for each business as they go into the directory and also, because I'm no writer, it helps to keep the blog active. So please send in your listing applications, give me something to blog about! This is free and makes your services searchable. You can find the application in the files section on the Facebook page and remember a photo for your listing. Photos can be logos, a product sample shot, or your own smiling face; whichever best represents your business.

As we move forward, my mission is to see this organization grow and build into its full potential. Help me help you grow your home business here in Iwakuni.

Pastime Passion is a home based craft shop brought to Iwakuni with Stef Miller. Mostly consisting of essential oil accessories and jewelry, and also sewn and crocheted gifts. Find out more about Stef Miller and her craft business by visiting the Arts & Crafts section of the directory.

News:
Currently we are not meeting during the summer break, but we are on the look out for more members as it is PSC season and many of our seasoned businesses are on their way out. Make sure to pass the word along to new comers in your communities. We had mentioned setting up a table at Welcome Aboard at our last meeting, otherwise it is all word of mouth and link sharing.

Leadership will also be doing another do-si-do. Due to unforeseen events, Jannell Atkins will be stepping down from leadership before the Fall Expo as their family moves on to their next adventure. However, Amanda Shreve has stepped forward into the leadership role to make sure we move forward seamlessly into the next event. Thank you ladies for all your help.

My mission is unchanged. As we move forward, I would like to see this organization grow and build into its full potential. Businesses that have left Iwakuni have been cleared from the directory. If you have yet to add your listing, please send in your application to get it added to the directory. This is free and makes your services searchable. You can find the application in the files section on the Facebook page and remember a photo for your listing. The more we have to offer, the greater the resource we will become.
